Conservation strategies includes a broad spectrum of actions with a common focus that are implemented to address threats, capitalize on opportunities, restore natural systems, and advance conservation and recovery for Species at Risk and biodiversity.
The Priority Place initiative will focus its efforts primarily on a stewardship-first approach and strategically complement other existing conservation programs and initiatives (e.g. Target 1 Challenge Fund, Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund, Two Billion Trees) and as such the list below are identified as ‘preferred’ strategies.
All strategies implemented through the Priority Place initiative should align with existing plans and with any collaborative conservation planning that comes out of this initiative.
Conservation in this context includes a suite of approaches such as restoration, stewardship, management protection, education, etc.
